Survey – Beef Cattle Code of Practice

The Canadian Cattle Association is encouraging beef producers across Canada to get involved in shaping the Beef Cattle Code of Practice update by taking a very short survey.

The survey can be found HERE and responses are due this Friday, May 3, 2024.

This is an important first step of the code review process to learn what are the top three welfare topics of importance to stakeholders for the on-farm care and handling of beef cattle.

It’s critically important survey results include a strong producer voice to accurately reflect what’s top of mind for producers at the farm/ranch level.

CCA initiated an update to the beef cattle Code of Practice as part of the regular review cycle to keep the code current. This update will follow the process established by the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC). Once completed, the Code will reflect updated requirements and recommended practices for on-farm care of beef cattle. You can learn more HERE.

The code of practice provides critical guidance for the care and handling of farm animals. It reflects our national understanding of animal care requirements and recommended practices and serve as educational tools, reference materials for regulations, and the foundation for farm animal care assessment programs.

Please consider sharing this survey with others in your network to encourage as much producer involvement as possible in this first step.
