OVEN FAJITAS
Homemade Taco Spice Mixture
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) chili powder
- ¾ tsp (3.5mL) oregano
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) cumin
- ½ tsp (2.5 mL) cayenne
- 1 tsp (5 mL) garlic powder
- ½ tsp (2.5 mL) salt
- 1 tsp (5 mL) onion powder
- ½ tsp (2.5 mL) ground pepper
- ¾ tsp (3.5 mL) paprika
Fajitas
- 1 lb (500 g) flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper
- 2 shallots
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) spice mixture
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) canola oil
Directions
- Combine spice mixture ingredients in small bowl and set aside. Preheat oven to 375F.
- Freeze the flank steak for about 15 min – this will make it easier to slice thinly.
- In large mixing bowl, combine flank steak, shallots, peppers and 2 tbsp of the reserved spice mixture and the oil.
- Spread the mixture evenly on a cookie sheet and place in the oven. Cook for 12-15 minutes.
- Serve with side or rice, salsa, and cheese, if desired.
